Video Interview with Lionsgate’s Jim Packer

Jim Packer, the president of worldwide TV and digital distribution at Lionsgate, spoke to World Screen’s Anna Carugati about the combined strengths of the Lionsgate-Starz portfolio and the value of aligning with top-flight partners.

It wasn’t too long ago that Lionsgate completed its acquisition of Starz, creating a vertically integrated global content platform that includes one of the largest independent television businesses in the world, a 16,000-title film and TV library, the Starz premium pay-TV network that serves nearly 25 million subscribers, a world-class film business and a growing suite of streaming services. The Lionsgate Television Group, complemented by Starz’s TV production operations, supplies nearly 90 shows to 40 different U.S. networks. The catalog boasts such successes as Orange Is the New Black, The Royals, Power and The Girlfriend Experience, and there are new/upcoming highlights like Sweetbitter, based on the hit book of the same name, and Vida, a drama focusing on two Mexican-American sisters.
