LONDON: Contemporary prime-time dramas are topping the ITV Studios Global Entertainment slate for MIPTV, including Monroe, starring James Nesbitt.

Nesbitt (Cold Feet) leads an ensemble cast that includes Sarah Parish (Cutting It, Mistresses) and Tom Riley (Bouquet of Barbed Wire). The six-part medical drama features Nesbitt playing neurosurgeon Gabriel Monroe, who never lets anyone forget his flaws or genius.

Case Histories is an adaptation of Kate Atkinson’s best-selling novels. The character-driven drama stars Jason Isaacs (The State Within, Harry Potter) as former soldier and policeman Jackson Brodie.

There’s also a new installment of Above Suspicion, from writer Lynda La Plante. In Deadly Intent, Kelly Reilly (Sherlock Holmes) plays DI Anna Travis while Ciarán Hinds (Road to Perdition) plays DCS James Langton. The two are back to investigate the death of a former colleague and friend from the drug squad.

The supernatural drama Marchlands, starring Alex Kingston (ER, Doctor Who) and Jodie Whittaker (Cranford, Wired), is a five-parter that tells the tales of three families living in the same house in the ’60s, ’80s and present day. The families are linked by the spirit of a young girl, the daughter of the family from the ’60s who died under mysterious circumstances.

Maria Kyriacou, the managing director at ITV Studios Global Entertainment, commented, “We are delighted to showcase this fantastic range of strong drama content at MI-TV.  By partnering with our colleagues at ITV Studios and continuing to build upon our relationships with leading third-party producers, we are confident in our position as one of the go-to brands for high quality, globally appealing prime-time drama programming. With a first-class slate such as this, we expect MIPTV to prove a very busy and successful market.”
