LOS ANGELES: The International Trade Administration (ITA) of USDOC has awarded the Independent Film & Television Alliance (IFTA) $248,000 under its Market Development Cooperator Program (MDCP), in a move to enhance the global competitiveness of U.S. film exports.

The multi-year deal sees the creation of the first American Pavilions established at two major film and TV markets. The pavilions will provide a space as well as marketing and technical support for U.S. companies to exhibit on an international level. The first market will be Hong Kong FILMART 2011. The pavilions are expected to generate $112 million in export revenues over three years.

“We are proud that MDCP recognized IFTA’s ability to help U.S. independent film companies compete more effectively in the global marketplace,” said IFTA’s president and CEO, Jean Prewitt.
