Iberian Sales for CABLEready

NORWALK: CABLEready has landed a number of deals in Spain and Portugal following the recent MIPTV, including the sale of A Cook’s Tour, featuring chef and author Anthony Bourdain, to Canal Cocina.

The 35×30-minute A Cook’s Tour follows Bourdain as he travels around the world in search of the ultimate dining experience. The show has been picked up by Spanish Chello Multicanal-owned station Canal Cocina. Pay-TV broadcaster Teuve went for San Quentin Unlocked, an hour-long look into the inner workings of San Quentin State Prison in California.

Biography Channel in Spain and Portugal took on the rights for Inside the Actors Studio, an interview series that features actors, directors, musicians and comedians. Also in Spain and Portugal, the documentary channel Odisea/Odisseia snapped up Medical Detectives, which profiles crimes where science was used to catch the criminal. FOX in Spain and Portugal took on InFANity, a guide to what’s happening on hit TV shows, and Before They Were Stars, looking at where celebrities were before making it big. Also, just for Portugal, FOX bagged the rights to TV’s Sexiest Stars, spotlighting the good-looking men and women of television.

“Our key clients in Spain continue to find success with our latest releases and worldwide hit series,” said Sabrina Toledo, CABLEready’s VP of sales and marketing. “Bourdain is such an accomplished international chef and incredibly colorful television personality that it will come as no surprise if food-obsessed Spaniards immediately embrace A Cook’s Tour.”

In a related announcement, the company has added several key territories, including Scandinavia, Asia and the Pacific Rim as well as Western Europe, to Toledo’s existing sales responsibilities. Gary Lico, CABLEready’s president and CEO, said: “I’m very pleased to be putting more of Europe under Sabrina’s watch. She has been a major contributor to our ongoing success in several key parts of the globe.”
