LONDON: Ian McDonough, previously the executive VP for the CEMA region at BBC Worldwide, has been tapped by Turner Broadcasting to lead its Northern European business.

As senior VP and managing director for Northern Europe, McDonough will be leading the broadcaster's business across the U.K., Nordics and Baltic region. He will be responsible for heading up the growth and development across its kids' and general-entertainment portfolio, also overseeing CNN International's distribution and commercial operations. At BBC Worldwide, McDonough was working across TV channels, content sales, consumer products, production, digital and home video for Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He also held a global remit for BBC Worldwide channels commercial strategy.

Stock says: “I recognized in Ian a determination, energy and ambition which is an excellent match for Turner as we are well positioned for growth. This combined with his considerable track record and passion for developing new business will be a tremendous asset. We have recently enjoyed some great ratings wins within the U.K. and Ian is extremely well placed to lead in a region that is experimenting with vast innovation and fast adapting user experiences, especially in the digital space.”
