LONDON: Chello Zone’s Horror Channel in Italy has secured a selection of survival films from Cinemavault, featuring, among others, Billy Zane, Malcolm McDowell and Noel Gugliemi.

The films are set to premiere in 2012 on the Horror Channel, which launched in Italy on September 6, replacing the channel Fantasy in the region. The selected films include Three (2005), The Barber (2002), Dead Meat (2004), Gruesome (2006), City of the Dead (2006) and Lost Things (2003). Three stars British model/actress Kelly Brook and Hollywood star Billy Zane, who are shipwrecked on a tropical island, while Lost Things features four teenagers who are terrorized during their spring break. The Barber stars Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange) as a psychotic killer in an Alaskan town with 24-hour darkness to shield his attacks. Gruesome, also released as Salvage and a hit at the Sundance Film Festival in 2006, tells the tale of a woman trapped in a cycle of events in which she relives her own murder again and again until she pieces together the truth. Dead Meat, an Irish Zombie movie starring Spanish theater actress Marian Araujo, is about a community infected by a mutated strain of Mad Cow disease. In City of the Dead, also released as Lost Rites, L.A. is terrorized by two gangs until a meteor storm unleashes an even deadlier threat.

Adam Robinson, the director of programming for Chello Zone, said, “Horror Channel in Italy has proved a ratings success since its launch last month, particularly in prime and late night, and these new acquisitions demonstrate our commitment to showcasing high-quality, cutting-edge horror titles.”
