Hearst Media Production Group Names New President

Hearst Media Production Group (HMPG) has tapped Bryan Curb, currently executive VP and general manager of educational/informational programming, as its new president, effective July 1.

Curb succeeds Frank Biancuzzo, who is retiring at mid-year.

Curb has served as an executive producer on more than 40 network television series. He was appointed executive VP and general manager of educational/informational programming in 2022. He oversaw all aspects of educational/informational programming, including programming development and production, business standards and practices, sales and marketing.

Under Curb’s leadership, HMPG brought back to broadcast television iconic brands such as the Harlem Globetrotters and Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom, introduced new multi-season programming, extended HMPG content onto digital platforms and oversaw new records for HMPG shows in terms of audience ratings and awards.

Prior to joining HMPG, Curb was chief creative officer at Litton Entertainment. Before joining Litton in 2018, he was founder and CEO of MTO Productions, where he created network programming and content for a variety of platforms, including ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX and Comedy Central.

“Bryan has nurtured and grown the success of HMPG’s educational and informational programming for more than a decade,” said Michael J. Hayes, president of Hearst Television, HMPG’s parent company. “His deep understanding of the evolving independent production marketplace, accomplishments across the network programming landscape and familiarity with Hearst Television make him uniquely qualified to carry forward the foundation Frank built.”

“I’ve had the privilege of working closely with Bryan as HMPG has grown, and I’ve seen firsthand the vision, passion and leadership he brings to every initiative,” Biancuzzo commented. “He has helped shape the culture and growth of our organization and drive its success.”
