HBO, Universal Extend Film Deal

NEW YORK, April 12: Universal Pictures has renewed its
output deal with HBO in the U.S., agreeing to a
long-term extension with the subscription pay service.

The deal keeps Universal films on
HBO well into the next decade, the two companies said in a statement, extending
a relationship that dates back to 2003. The agreement includes movies from the
slate of Universal Pictures as well as its specialty labels, Focus Features and
Rogue Pictures.

Announcing the new deal, Rick
Finkelstein, the vice chairman of Universal Pictures, stated: “This agreement
is a very important piece of the financial structure of our films and we are
extremely happy to announce its completion. We have an excellent relationship
with HBO, the premiere name in cable television, and we are thrilled to be
building on that relationship by extending our output deal with them well into
the future."
