HBO Dominates Golden Globe Nods

HOLLYWOOD, December 11:
HBO once again led the pack of nominees for the annual Golden Globes with 22
nods, including In Treatment and True Blood facing off in the drama
category, while on the theatrical side, The
Curious Case of Benjamin Button
, Doubt
and Frost/Nixon are on top.

For
the television categories, Showtime is in second place after HBO with 8
nominations, followed by NBC with 6 and ABC and AMC tied with 5 each.

Up against In Treatment and True Blood for best drama series are Showtime's Dexter, FOX's House and last year's winner, AMC's Mad Men. On the performance side, Mad Men's Jon Hamm, Dexter's
Michael C. Hall and In Treatment's
Gabriel Byrne face off with Hugh Laurie of House
and The Tudors' Jonathan Rhys
Meyers. Best actress nominees are Sally Field for Brothers & Sisters, Mariska Hargitay of Law & Order: SVU, January Jones of Mad Men, True Blood's

NBC's The Office and 30 Rock both
return in the best TV comedy or music category. They are competing with
Showtime's Californication and Weeds and HBO's Entourage for the win. Best comedic actress nods went to Christina
Applegate for her role in Samantha Who?,
Ugly Betty's America Ferrera, Debra
Messing for The Starter Wife,
Mary-Louise Parker for Weeds and last
year's winner, 30 Rock's Tina Fey.
Also looking to hold on to his title is Californication's
David Duchovny, who took home the statuette for best comedic male at last
year's awards. This year he is up against Alec Baldwin of 30 Rock, Steve Carell of The
Office
, Monk's Tony Shalhoub and
Kevin Connolly of Entourage.

In the running for best
mini-series or TV movie are HBO's Bernard
and Doris
, John Adams and Recount, squaring off with ABC's A Raisin in the Sun and PBS's Cranford. Cranford's Judi Dench will look for the win on the performance side
over John Adams' Laura Linney,
Shirley MacLaine of Coco Chanel,
Susan Sarandon of Bernard and Doris and
Catherine Kenner of An American Crime.
Actors up for top honors in the category are John Adams' Paul Giamatti, Ralph Fiennes of Bernard and Doris, Kevin Spacey and Tom Wilkinson for Recount and Kiefer Sutherland for 24: Redemption.
