TORONTO: Breakthrough Film and Television and Buffalo Gal Pictures are to produce 13 new half-hour episodes of the comedy series Less Than Kind for a third season for HBO Canada.

Production on the new season is slated for later this year. The third installment will see the return of Maury Chaykin as Sam Blecher, Jesse Camacho as Sheldon Blecher, Wendel Meldrum as Anne Blecher, 2009 Leo winner and Benjamin Arthur as Josh Blecher, Nancy Sorel as Aunt Clara, Brooke Palsson as Miriam Goldstein as well as Ross McMillian as Mr. Lubbe, Tyler Johnston as Danny Lubbe and Mike O’Brien as Mr. Goldstein.

Less Than Kind has had the unique privilege of being the first Canadian-produced comedy series on HBO Canada’s Friday night comedy lineup, along side of work of Ricky Gervais, Bill Maher and Will Ferrell. And we are delighted that we will be keeping the same good company for another season,” said Ira Levy, executive producer at Breakthrough.

"We are absolutely thrilled to be working on another season of this one-of-a-kind Canadian television series. The third season of Less Than Kind will continue with the winning formula that has made the Blechers the quintessential dysfunctional Canadian family that people just love to watch," added Phyllis Laing, executive producer at Buffalo Gal.

Less Than Kind is a shining example of the high-caliber of talent working in Canadian production today,” commented Aubie Greenberg, the director of original programming at The Movie Network and HBO Canada. “HBO Canada is proud to bring Canadians another season of the heartbreaking and sidesplitting misadventures of the Comacho family.”
