NEW YORK: Syfy’s Haven has planned a seven-episode story arc that flows between the TV show and Twitter, starting August 12 and wrapping up in the second-season finale on September 30.

The integrated plot features characters Vince and Dave, who run the newspaper in Haven, joining Twitter. Viewers can follow the characters (@VinceHaven, @DaveHaven) and see them interact with a mysterious Twitter user (@ColdInHaven), who knows more about Haven, Vince and Dave than anyone should. As the special plot unfolds on Twitter, viewers of the show will catch glimpses of the happenings, and will be directed to follow the Twitter conversation through special promos. Viewers can follow the story on Twitter with the hashtag #HavenNews as well as on syfy.com/haven.

The seven-episode story line starts August 12 at 10 p.m.; the outcome of the Twitter story will be revealed on September 30, the second-season finale.

"The Haven writers and producers have done an amazing job of crafting a story line that seamlessly moves between the TV show and Twitter," said Craig Engler, the general manager and senior VP at Syfy Digital. "Although there have been simple integrations before, no one has fully and organically integrated Twitter into the fabric of the show in the way Haven is doing. If you watch Haven and use Twitter, you’re in for a real treat."

"Twitter has become the default platform for TV fans to talk, in real-time, about the shows they love," added Robin Sloan, the manager of media partnerships at Twitter. "Syfy has embraced that conversation, and now it’s breaking new ground with this Haven story line. It incorporates Twitter more deeply into the show’s plot than anything we’ve ever seen before."
