LONDON: UKTV has scored the exclusive U.K. premiere broadcast rights to the fantasy cop drama Grimm from NBCUniversal International Television Distribution as part of a package of first-run series.

Grimm, created by Jim Kouf (Angel) and David Greenwalt (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), will launch in the U.S. on NBC this fall. It then heads to UKTV’s Watch to make its British TV premiere in early 2012.

The deal between UKTV and NBCUniversal International Television Distribution also includes the exclusive British premiere broadcast rights to Suits, a legal comedy heading to Dave, and Covert Affairs, a drama to air on Really.

Christian Drobnyk, UKTV’s interim controller, said, “To say we are thrilled to have secured one of the hottest titles from this year’s LA Screenings is an understatement. As this deal also includes the exclusive rights to two other strong scripted series, you can see that UKTV is serious about investing in high-quality content that is brand new to British viewers.”

Alexandra Finlay, UKTV’s acquisitions manager, added, “We’re delighted to be collaborating with NBCUniversal on these three new titles. The deal exemplifies UKTV’s ambition to secure the best new U.S. shows for our viewers.”
