Granada Ramps Up Offerings for the AFM

LONDON, October 18: Granada
International will roll out its catalogue of feature films, now digitally
restored in high definition, along with dramas and classic Hollywood TV movies,
at the AFM.

Feature films that are now
available in high definition include The Fabulous Baker Boys, which stars Michelle Pfeiffer (Dangerous
Liaisons
) and real-life brothers
Jeff (Seabiscuit) and Beau
Bridges (Stargate SG-1); Brief
Encounter,
a love story starring
Trevor Howard (Gandhi), Celia
Johnson (The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie) and Stanley Holloway (My Fair Lady); and Henry V, based on one of Shakespeare’s most popular
historical plays.

Award-winning classic
films that Granada will be offering include All Quiet on the Western Front, which stars Richard Thomas (The Waltons), Ernest Borgnine, Donald Pleasence, Patricia Neal
and Ian Holm in a story about WWI; Daniel Day-Lewis (Gangs of New York) stars in My Left Foot, the true-life story of a cerebral palsy victim
with his left foot as the only appendage over which he has complete control;
and Fried Green Tomatoes At The Whistle Stop Café, starring Kathy Bates (Misery) and Jessica Tandy (Driving Miss Daisy) in a story about friendship. Also on offer are The
African Queen
, featuring screen
legends Katharine Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart, and Carry On Camping, starring comic actors Sid James, Bernard Bresslaw,
Kenneth Williams, Charles Hawtrey and Joan Sims.

Granada will also be
bringing to the AFM its portfolio of Hollywood TV movies, including Matters
of Life and Dating,
starring Ricki
Lake (The Business of Being Born, Hairspray) in a story about the search for Mr. Right; And
She Was,
which provides an
entertaining look at ageism in contemporary Hollywood; the disaster movie Wildfires;
and Locusts: Day of Destruction, which stars Lucy Lawless (XENA Warrior
Princess
) and Dylan Neal (40
Days and 40 Nights
).
