Globo Boosts Presence in Asia

SÃO PAULO, December 21: Globo TV International has inked a deal for one of its novelas to be broadcast in China.

In a deal signed at the Asia TV Forum in Singapore, Shades of Sin is slated for launch on an unnamed broadcaster in China in April. “Our participation at ATF this year exceeded our expectations,” said Raphael Corrêa Netto, the sales director for Globo TV International. “We had almost twice as many business meetings than in the previous year, generating considerable demand for our telenovelas, which are beginning to be recognized in the region for their high quality. We are very proud to be entering the Chinese market.”

Shades of Sin, which has already been sold to more than 40 countries, averaged a 73 percent share in its home market. It is a romantic comedy following the story of twins who were separated at birth.
