LONDON: Endemol Worldwide Brands and digital gaming specialist Visiware have signed a deal for The Money Drop, making it the first ever game show to be internationally sold incorporating a suite of built-in digital game extensions.

The games can be tailored to any market. They will be initially available via broadcaster websites and social networks, with further extensions, including for the iPhone and iPad, to follow. The games will be ready for global rollout this fall. A deal has already been signed with ZDF in Germany, where the local version of the game show recently launched.

Olivier Gers, the CEO of Endemol Worldwide Brands, commented: “This is the first time a global format has been sold internationally as a complete multiplatform ‘ecosystem’. It creates a brilliantly simple and cost effective solution to delivering The Money Drop as a unique multiplatform experience in any territory. We believe this adds significant value to the format and are extremely pleased to see leading broadcasters like ZDF already reaping the benefits.”

Visiware’s president, Laurant Weill, added: ”We are really happy and proud to have been chosen by Endemol for the development of this massive multiplayer play along game and its extensions. We believe that this is the next generation of live in-show interactive TV.”
