GE, Comcast Value NBCU at $30 Billion

NEW YORK: General Electric (GE) and Comcast Corporation have agreed on a value of around $30 billion for a joint venture between NBC Universal and Comcast, according to reports.

The resolution brings the companies one step closer to firming up a deal, which would see Comcast taking a 51-percent stake in the NBC Universal venture. The tie-up between Comcast and NBC Universal would bring together Comcast’s cable networks with NBC Universal’s TV networks, movie studio and local TV stations.

Vivendi, whose stake would be bought out entirely, continues to be in talks with GE over the valuation of its 20-percent interest in NBC Universal.
