FUNimation Acquires Robotech Feature

FORT WORTH, August 4:
FUNimation Entertainment has acquired the home video, broadcast and theatrical
rights to the anime feature Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles from Harmony Gold.

"Robotech is the series that introduced an entire generation
to anime," said Gen Fukunaga, the president and CEO of FUNimation.
"The Robotech series also
ended on a cliffhanger that left fans waiting for 20 years. FUNimation is very
excited to be part of the team that will bring expectant fans the ending they
have been waiting for in Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles."

The
film’s storyline finds Earth being defended by an alien race called the Invid.
An Admiral’s mysterious disappearance then sets in motion a chain of events
that threatens the survival of the planet. The voice talent cast is led by Star
Wars
’ Mark Hamill and Star
Trek: Deep Space Nine
’s Chase
Masterson.

The
Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles
DVD features high-definition video, 5.1 digital surround sound and a musical
scored performed by the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. It will be released on
November 21.
