French Photographer to Receive First Green World Award at MIPTV

PARIS, March 5: At this year’s MIPTV, renowned French
photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand will receive the first ever Green World
Award, a new honor that has been created to recognize audiovisual industry
figures who have contributed to the growing global awareness of environmental
issues.

Last year, France 2 commissioned Arthus-Bertrand to head-up
a series of four, two-hour documentaries entitled From Above. The series focuses on the key environmental
challenges facing the world and what's at stake. Filmed in high definition and
hosted by Arthus-Bertrand, the first episode aired in October 2006 and was
watched by 5 million people.

Arthus-Bertrand is scheduled to receive his MIPTV award
during a gala dinner for leading industry executives on April 17, the same day
that he will give a keynote speech discussing television's role in the fight
against global warming.

Arthus-Bertrand has worked as a photojournalist in France
specializing in adventure-sports and nature. He also worked closely with a
number of naturalists including Dian Fossey and her mountain gorillas in
Rwanda. His pictures have been published in leading international magazines
that include Paris Match, Geo, Life
and National Geographic. In 1995,
under the patronage of UNESCO's Ecological Science Department, he began working
on the immense project of creating a scientific data bank of the Earth as seen
from the air, which continues to comprise an important part of his work. Much
of his continuing survey of the planet's ecosystems can been seen in numerous
exhibitions and publications and over 100 million people have visited his
exhibitions to date.

"We want to contribute to the awareness of
environmental concerns through our tradeshows," said Paul Zilk, the CEO of
Reed MIDEM. "Television has a huge impact on public opinion and education,
and the creation and broadcasting of environment-focused programming is
extremely important. The series of documentaries inspired by Yann
Arthus-Bertrand From Above, which depict
the world's most pressing environmental challenges, is an excellent example of
this."
