FremantleMedia Announces MIPCOM Slate

LONDON, October 4:
FremantleMedia will head to MIPCOM armed with a diverse range of formats, led
by The Next Great Band, Hole in the Wall, The Gift, Temptation and I Know You Know.

FOX’s musical talent
show The Next Great Band, from
the producers of American Idol, is the search to discover the next
chart-topping band, with a recording contract up for grabs.

The Japanese
entertainment format Hole in the Wall pulled in over one million hits on YouTube since it first debuted on
computer screens. Hole in the Wall
sees two teams of three compete against each other to make their bodies fit
into a hole in the wall. The winners win a cash prize, while the losers get
pushed into a pool of water.

The Gift is a factual entertainment format, originally
developed in Australia, which follows a number of donor families facing the
decision to contribute the organs of a deceased loved one to save the life of
someone they will never meet. It also documents the stories of those on the
receiving end, and the lives of the people working around the clock to make
these procedures happen.

Also debuting at MIPCOM
is Temptation, a pop-culture
game show that allows both contestants and the audience to bid for amazing
prizes at very low prices by testing their ability to resist temptations to
spend their money. The show has already seen success in its original American
and Australian formats.

The family-friendly quiz
show I Know You Know pits two
families against each other to battle it out over three rounds that test their
general knowledge. They are tested not on whether they know, but on whether
they can predict what the rest of their family knows.

Rob Clark, the senior
executive VP of entertainment and production of worldwide entertainment for
FremantleMedia, said: “We are pleased to present another selection of diverse,
quality programming in Cannes, from U.S. network blockbusters through to
unusual shows from the Far East, to factual entertainment that pulls on the
heart strings of viewers worldwide. These formats offer a collection of fun,
entertainment and inspiration and reflect FremantleMedia’s commitment to
quality productions that entertain global audiences.”
