France 24’s French-Language Service Heads to the U.S.

PARIS: The international news channel France 24 is launching with a lineup of French-language programming in the U.S. through DISH Network, available to 15 million subscribers.

The channel will be available 24/7 starting on July 14, Bastille Day. France 24 has been available in English since 2006 in select markets in the U.S. Globally, the network broadcasts in French, English and Arabic across 160 countries.

"We believe there is a growing interest in the United States for news contents coming from a variety of sources and origins," said Christine Ockrent, the CEO of France 24. "1/3 of our website’s users already live in the United States. We were the first French TV on iPad and we got fabulous ratings from American bloggers. We are now happy to launch our French signal on DISH World, especially on such a symbolic date as Bastille Day!"
