FOXTEL Commissions New Australian Drama

SYDNEY, July 31: Australian pay-TV platform FOXTEL has
commissioned a new drama, Dangerous, for
launch late this year that will be rolled out globally by Southern Star
International.

The “Romeo and
Juliet” story of forbidden love in set against two diverse backgrounds: a tough
neighborhood plagued by street crime and an affluent city beach suburb. The
8×1-hour production promises to bring a new perspective on Australian youth
culture, including taboo subjects like party-drug use and the underground world
of drag racing. The series is being produced in partnership with Southern Star
John Edwards. It will commence production in September and will premiere on
FOXTEL’s flagship entertainment channel FOX8 in late 2006.

Dangerous will be
like no other drama series ever seen on Australian television—it will be
action packed, fast and furious and break new ground as it taps and explores
youth culture through a classic forbidden love story,” said Brian Walsh, the
executive director of television and marketing at FOXTEL.
