FOX 21, Platinum Announce New Collaboration

LOS ANGELES: On the heels of teaming up to develop the comic book Indestructible Man as a TV series, FOX 21 and Platinum Studios are working together on Gunplay, with X-Files and Final Destination writer and producer Glen Morgan attached to pen the script.

In October, FOX 21—the division of 20th Century Fox Television that focuses on scripted fare for the cable networks and unscripted titles for cable and broadcast—announced it was developing a TV series based on the comic book series Indestructible Man, which is one of 5,600 comic characters owned by Platinum Studios. The new collaboration announced today is for Gunplay, which tells the story of Abner Meeks, a Buffalo Soldier condemned to roam the Old West with a demonic shooting iron that forces him to kill once a day or suffer soul-searing pain. The graphic novel was the winner of Platinum’s Comic Book Challenge.

"’Gunplay is a unique story of an ordinary man who must live with an extraordinary curse," said Chris Carlisle, the president of FOX 21.

"Gunplay is one of those rare combinations of fantastically created characters and wonderfully told narrative which creates an inventive canvas from which to play," added Platinum Studios’ chairman and CEO, Scott Mitchell Rosenberg.
