FME Wraps European Deals

LONDON: FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) has firmed up a number of TV and DVD sales from its entertainment, drama, factual, lifestyle and comedy catalogues across Germany and Central and Eastern Europe.

Got Talent has now been sold into Georgia, with Rustavi 2 picking up the entertainment format, which features performers of all ages and talents competing to win a cash prize. The show has been broadcast in 24 territories to date and is the number one show in its time period in 14 territories. Rustavi 2 also went for season two of Geo Star, the localized version of Idols, one of the most successful formats in the world. The series, which sees individuals competing to be the next pop sensation, has now aired more than 139 seasons in 43 territories.

Season two of Satisfaction, the Australian drama that follows the lives of high-class escorts, has been sold to TV2 in Bulgaria. The first season has been sold to 24 regions globally to date. 1000 Ways To Die, which features the stories of people who have met with extraordinary ends, has been picked up by RTL Klub in Hungary. The broadcaster also bought the reality show America’s Toughest Jobs, which pits contestants against each other as they attempt a series of difficult and dangerous jobs.

FME also secured a number of DVD deals for comedy, lifestyle and drama titles. Studio Hamburg picked up seasons one to three of the award-winning The IT Crowd, which follows the lives of a trio of IT consultants. Season one and two were also sold to World Wide Classics in the Czech Republic.

Jamie’s American Road Trip, which follows famous British chef Jamie Oliver on a road trip through the U.S., went to SDT in Poland. Russia’s Cinemax acquired season one and pre-ordered season two of The Adventures of Merlin. The series, which gives the myths, monsters and magic of Camelot a modern twist, has already been sold to more than 180 countries worldwide. A second season is currently in production.
