Five to Launch New Beckham Series

LONDON, July 6: On July 25, Five in the U.K. will launch David
Beckham’s Soccer USA
, a new series
chronicling the football star as he embarks on his new career with the LA
Galaxy Major League Soccer team.

Five says the weekly series will have exclusive access to
the Beckhams, hearing first-hand what the former England captain thinks of his
new life. The series of 45-minute episodes is produced by 19, Beckham’s
management company. It will also feature other well-known players who have made
the switch to U.S. teams, such as Aston Villa striker Juan Pablo Angel, and
will look at how celebrities like Tom Cruise, Eric Clapton and Steven Spielberg
have taken to game. A regular feature of the show will also highlight wives of
some of the MLS players, such as Bianca Kajlich, model and wife of Galaxy
captain Landon Donovan.

Robert Charles, the controller
of sport for Five, said: “There is no doubt that David Beckham's arrival in the
U.S. will give the MLS a huge boost and we're delighted that Five’s viewers
will be able to see the impact he has on the game over there, both on and off
the field. We will have unprecedented access to his new life and viewers will
be able to see not only how he and his family settle in the U.S. but also how
the American public takes to one of the most charismatic players the world has
ever seen.”
