Five to Air Granada’s Pocoyo

LONDON, September 11:
Granada International has sold both seasons of the preschool hit Pocoyo to the U.K.’s Five for terrestrial broadcast
beginning in early 2008.

Co-produced with Spain’s
Zinkia Entertainment, the 3-D, CGI-animated series will continue to air to
digital viewers on CITV. Under the new distribution deal, Five will air Pocoyo
exclusively in its Milkshake! children’s block, which airs Monday to Friday at 6
a.m. and at 10 a.m. on the weekend. CITV will have the exclusive rights to air
the program outside these times.

Pocoyo, which airs in more than 100 territories, tells the story of a fun-loving little boy with an
insatiable curiosity. The cast of colorful, lovable characters helps teach
children about self-awareness and self-confidence by learning through laughter.
It is written by Andy Yerkes (Bear in the Big Blue
House
) and Ken Scarborough (Arthur), with the English version narrated by Stephen Fry (Kingdom, Gosford Park).
The second season just completed production in Madrid, and worldwide
distribution rights will be handled by Granada International, with Zinkia
responsible for rights in Spain, Portugal, Italy and Latin America.
