Five Rolls Out UEFA Europa iPhone App

LONDON: Five has launched an iPhone app that will allow viewers in the U.K. to watch the UEFA Europa League matches live in full screen on their iPhone and iPod touch devices.

The application goes live in time for tomorrow’s match between Celtic and Rapid Vienna at Parkhead. The service was developed in association with Livestation, the online TV specialists based in London, and is available exclusively to iPhone and iPod touch owners in the U.K. The app can be purchased for £3.99, granting access to all of Five’s Thursday-night fixtures, plus highlights of each week’s competition, for the entire duration of the tournament throughout 2009-10.

Five’s head of digital media, Jonathan Lewis, commented: “Five is offering a genuine service to football fans. The app is attractively priced and means never having to miss a minute of the live action when you’re on the move. It also exemplifies Five’s ambition to extend the reach of our long-form, ad-supported video content to as many platforms as possible, with the aim of generating additional incremental advertising revenues.”
