Five Names New Director of Programs

LONDON, May 29: Five has tapped the BBC’s Jay Hunt as its
new director of programs, reporting to Lisa Opie, the broadcaster’s managing
director of content.

In February, Opie unveiled her plans to restructure Five’s
programming department and hire a director of programs. Hunt will be
responsible for overseeing programming for the broadcaster’s core channel. She
is currently the BBC’s controller of daytime and early peak and is set to join
Five this year.

As the controller of daytime and early peak at the BBC, Hunt
has commissioned hit series such as the RTS award-winning Through Hell and
High Water
, Wanted Down Under, Animal 24/7, Great British Menu, Extreme
Dreams
and Masterchef Goes Large. Hunt joined the BBC as a researcher on Breakfast
News
in 1989. She also worked on Newsnight and Panorama as an output editor and senior producer, and served as editor of the One
O'Clock News
and the Six O'Clock
News
