Five Names Controller for Digital Channels

LONDON, August 25: Five has named Nick Thorogood as the
controller of its new digital channels, Five Life and Five US, both of which
launch this fall.

Thorogood begins his new role in September. Until earlier
this year, he was the editor of ITV Daytime. Prior to that he was the head of
lifestyle channels at UKTV for four years. Since leaving ITV he has been
working in Southeast Asia for Astro Broadcasting as acting director of
programs.

He said of his new appointment: “Successful channels define
themselves with attitude, energy and a passion for excellent
programming—Five is clearly an environment where these values shine out,
and I can’t wait to join such a dynamic team. Having successfully launched
channels before, I am truly looking forward to the challenges ahead. Five has
shown its commitment to the key content which will shape Five Life and Five US
and I think the timing is perfect for new channels.”
