FIC, LAPTV Team for New Latin American Drama

BUENOS AIRES: Fox International Channels’ Fox Telecolombia division has begun production on Cadabra, a new supernatural series that will be available across Latin America on premium cable via LAPTV.

The 13×1-hour series focuses on a 17-year-old boy whose escape from an obscure community triggers a wave of strange events. Fox Telecolombia previously produced Tiempo Final and Mental. "Cadabra is Fox’s natural next step, 100-percent homemade, upping the stakes of production, with an unprecedented cast and a thoroughly innovative plot,” said Emiliano Saccone, the senior VP of global content for Fox International Channels. “We believe that Cadabra will be another step in our ‘local premium content’ journey and will show that there is more than enough talent in the region to produce at the highest international level, and, being local, it will generate stronger connections with the audience.

LAPTV’s CEO, Edgar Spielmann, added: “Our participation in the production of original programming is part of the natural evolution of our company, whose aim is to offer the best premium TV experience in Latin America. Since its launching, Movie City Pack has supported local talent by showing Latin American films, taking part in Latin film festivals or giving awards to films in the region. With Cadabra, Movie City Pack starts a new chapter which will include original productions for the demanding Latin American audience.”
