FIC, Fireworks in Distribution Deal

LOS ANGELES: Fox International Channels (FIC) has tapped Fireworks International to handle the distribution of its original FoxBytes-branded short-form content.

FIC recently announced plans to release six original short-form shows under the FoxBytes banner on its platforms this summer. Beginning in November, Fireworks International will roll those properties out to other platforms worldwide. The series will be advertiser supported and offered on a streaming, VOD and SVOD basis. It will also be versioned in each of the local markets.

The slate, totaling 3.5 hours, includes the comedy Single Dads, the animated show Security 7 and the stop-motion animation Dito. FIC is also working on the development and production of two further hours of programming, including a second season of Single Dads. According to Sharon Tal Yguado, the VP of development at FIC, "Seventy-five percent of the short-form projects we develop have long-form potential. Once we launch the series and can track performance, we’ll decide on two to three projects that will go into TV development.”

Jonathan Ford, the senior VP of digital acquisitions and distribution at Fireworks International, added, “FoxBytes provides a strong example of how original programming ideas can be executed in short format for multiplatform viewing, and we are excited to be working with Fox International Channels on these properties.”
