Feelgood Fiction Scores U.S. Deals

LONDON, October 2: British independent Feelgood Fiction has
notched up new deals in the U.S., including a pickup by HBO of the format
rights to the Five and Paramount Comedy series Suburban Shootout.

In addition, CBS has commissioned a pilot script for a new
narrative comedy, Guru, from Gary James
Martin and Roger Beckett. Pitched as a “Frasier for the 21st century”, it explores the
world of an extreme life coach.

Laurence Bowen, executive producer at Feelgood, commented,
“To be developing a direct relationship with the U.S. networks is very exciting
for us. As with all great programming, in the end, it all boils down to writing
talent. With Suburban Shootout, Gary and
Roger proved they have a huge flair for turning a highly original concept into
a rich world with great characters. This struck a particular chord in the
States.”
