Famous Five: On the Case Ready for British Debut

LONDON, March 19: The new
European long-form production Famous Five: On the Case is set to premiere on Disney Channel in the U.K. on
May 5 at 10:30 a.m.

Following its debut, the
series will air every Saturday at 8 a.m., with repeats at 5:35 p.m. and Sundays
at 8 a.m. and 5:35 p.m. and Fridays at 3:35 p.m.

The series is from Disney
Channel’s London-based global original programming hub and has been co-produced
with Chorion, owners of the Famous Five brand, and Marathon. Famous Five: On the Case will feature the same mystery and adventure themes
of the original Famous Five books,
but with a contemporary twist.

The new series will kick
off with a national storytelling competition for kids, which invites young
would-be novelists to write their own Famous Five: On the Case adventure story. The winning story, chosen by a
panel of judges, will be produced as a limited-edition book and audio podcast
by Hodder.

Steve Aranguren, the VP of
the global original programming division, commented: “The Famous Five themes of adventure, mystery and friendship are as
relevant and appealing to kids today as they were 70 years ago. We’re delighted
to be bringing a national treasure to Disney Channel and we hope that the show
will engage a new generation of fans with a classic property.”

Jeff Norton, the director
of brand development at Chorion, added: “We’re delighted to partner with the
Disney Channel to extend the mythology of the Famous Five to a new generation of adventurers. Famous
Five: On the Case
is a great
example of how we, as the brand guardian, celebrate the heritage of a property
while making it fresh and relevant for new generations of fans.”
