LOS ANGELES: Basic Lead has revealed that the European Product Placement Association (EPPA) is slated to officially launch at this year's DISCOP Istanbul, which is scheduled to take place from March 4 to 6.

The purpose of the EPPA is to help TV content producers, broadcasters, distribution platforms, brands and creative services find success with advertiser-funded content. It is meant to strengthen worldwide brands and arrange financing for production companies.

The final day of DISCOP Istanbul will promote EPPA by concentrating on cutting-edge strategies and best practices in the development of branded TV content during a selection of panels and case studies.

"With favorable legislations now in place in most European countries, the definition of product placement and branded content has considerably broadened over the last three years," noted M. Akif Ebiçlioğlu, co-founder of EPPA and CEO of 3P Product Placement Production. "In such an environment our role is, quite simply, to offer expert guidance and practical information designed to support brands, producers and programmers optimize their organic relationship."

"As a multibillion dollar industry fueled by double digit growth, branded entertainment is one of the hottest topics in marketing communications, but also one of the least understood," added Benjamin Maftoul, the conference program director of DISCOP Istanbul, "and this is why we are bringing together the brightest and best minds in the branded entertainment world to provide our attendees with an A-Class crash course."
