ER Finale Delivers 16.4 Million Viewers

UNIVERSAL CITY: The series finale of NBC’s long-running medical drama ER notched up 16.4 million viewers, the largest audience for a drama series finale since Murder, She Wrote in 1996.

The final episode on Thursday night also delivered the highest 18-to-49 rating for a drama series finale on the broadcast networks since The X-Files in 2002. 

The show began its acclaimed run as a drama series on September 22, 1994, following a two-hour TV movie on September 19, 1994. The end of its 15th and final season delivered its highest-rated episode since 2006. The season-to-date average was up 90 percent in total viewers. Plus, in its time slot on Thursday, ER dominated in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key ratings categories.
