ER Announces MIPTV Deals, Takes on Transformers

LONDON, May 8: Entertainment Rights (ER) has announced a
host of deals concluded at MIPTV on titles from across its catalogue, which it
has bolstered with the addition of the new Transformers series from Hasbro.

ER has acquired the worldwide rights, excluding Latin
America, North America and certain Asian territories, for television and VOD to
the new Transformers: Animated
26×30-minute series together with a 70-minute Transformers special. ER now represents four seasons of Transformers programming, totaling 154 episodes. Jane Smith, the
chief commercial and creative director at ER, noted: “Transformers is an extremely successful global brand and this new
series is a fantastic addition to our strong library of programming, which now
stands at in excess of 8,700 episodes. ER has already had considerable success
in securing premier television platforms in key territories around the world
for this exciting franchise. We are extremely confident that the new Transformers programming will be much in demand.”

The company has also shored up a range of deals on other
titles within its catalogue, including Rupert Bear, which has been acquired by France 5, Super RTL in
Germany and Kidz Entertainment in Scandinavia. ER has secured a raft of home
entertainment agreements with key partners in territories including France, Poland,
Portugal, Greece, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Taiwan, South Africa and
Turkey. In addition, Viva
Entertainment has acquired home entertainment rights for distribution across
the Middle East.

The Basil Brush Show
has been licensed to Spanish broadcaster TVE and Cartoon Network in France and
Spain. It has now sold to 85 territories around the world.

ER is currently in negotiations on George of the Jungle in Germany, France, Italy and Spain. Casper’s
Scare School
has been acquired by TF1
France, Super RTL in Germany and Cartoon Network U.K., and presale negotiations
have begun on a new Casper’s Scare School animated television series. For 3-2-1 Penguins!, ER is currently in discussions for presales with
broadcasters in markets such as France, Germany, Italy and Spain.

The brand new feature length movie, Barbie as the Island
Princess
, has already been licensed to Super
RTL in Germany, M6 in France, Finnish broadcaster MTV3, TV2 Denmark, TV2
Norway, Kanal 2 in Estonia, LNK in Lithuania, LTV in Latvia, and GMA in the
Philippines.

ER has also secured an agreement with Sparrowhawk Media’s
KidsCo for a range of titles, including The Basil Brush Show, Budgie the Little Helicopter, My Parents are Aliens and Tracy Beaker.
