LONDON: Entertainment One (eOne) is set to roll out the preschool series Peppa Pig for broadcast and licensing in Spain.

RTVE in Spain will launch Peppa Pig seasons one and two as part of its Clan Kids block this month. Previously, Peppa Pig was aired on TV Cataluña.

Peppa Pig licensed merchandise will roll out in Spain in August 2012 with Bandai España confirmed as the official toy distributor for the region. Random House is also on board for publishing and El Ocho is in talks for licensing agreements in categories including apparel and footwear, party, puzzles and games and back to school.

“We’re delighted to be adding Peppa Pig to RTVE’s schedule of children’s programs,” said Rafael Bardem, the director of programs, sales and licensing at RTVE. “It is a high-quality show that compliments our current line-up of shows perfectly and I’m sure that it will entertain our existing audience and attract new children and families to our channel.”

Andrew Carley, the head of licensing at Entertainment One, commented, “With both RTVE and Bandai on board we couldn’t have asked for a better start to the Spanish licensing programme. Our approach is always to create long-term opportunities and both RTVE and Bandai understand this fully. Their early commitment once again reflects the growing international appeal of Peppa.”
