Engel Entertainment Secures Broadcast Deal with PBS’s NOVA

NEW YORK, June 25: The PBS science series NOVA has picked up Engel Entertainment’s feature-length
documentary A Walk to Beautiful, for
a U.S. premiere in 2008.

This marks Engel
Entertainment’s first broadcast deal for A Walk to Beautiful, which premiered at the San Francisco International
Film Festival early in May and won the Audience Award. WGBH International will
represent the film internationally.

A Walk to Beautiful tells
the stories of five young Ethiopian women who endure devastating injuries arising
from obstructed labor during childbirth, and journey to the Addis Ababa Fistula
Hospital. The documentary reveals the problems facing women in the developing
world, including malnutrition, child marriage, and lack of obstetric care.
Produced by Steven Engel and Mary Olive Smith, A Walk to Beautiful marks the feature directorial debut of Smith, who has
worked at Engel Entertainment for 11 years. It is co-directed by Amy Bucher and
co-produced by Allison Shigo.

"NOVA is proud
to include this beautifully made and inspirational film on such an important
subject in our broadcast line-up,” remarked Paula Apsell, NOVA’s senior executive producer. “This compelling
documentary is in keeping with NOVA’s mission of educating, informing and inspiring our viewers."
