Endemol Preps Family Comedy with Argentine Star

HILVERSUM: The Argentine actress Florencia Bertotti, whose credits include the hit Floricienta, is on board for a new family comedy from Endemol that is being launched at the L.A. Screenings.

Nini is a 120-part series that is being filmed in Buenos Aires. The Endemol Argentina production is penned by Gabriela Fiore, who wrote Floricienta, among other titles. It tells the story of a simple young girl who disguises herself as a man and begins working as chauffeur to a wealthy Ambassador in order to remain close to his adopted children. “I’m thrilled to be working with Endemol on Nini," said Bertotti, whose shows have been distributed in more than 35 countries, while her singing career has included nine platinum selling albums and a world tour. "This project excited me from day one. Nini is a fun-filled family drama and this is a dream role for me.”

Martin Kweller, the managing director of Endemol Argentina and creative director for Latin America, added: "Florencia is one of the biggest international stars to come out of Latin America and we are extremely excited to be working with her on Nini. She is loved all over the world, both as a singer and a TV star and this series has great global potential. “

Caroline Torrance, the director of scripted programming and distribution at Endemol International, which is launching the show at the L.A. Screenings, noted: “Nini is family entertainment at its best. It’s both warm and genuinely funny and I’m in no doubt that audiences everywhere are going to love it. We expect to have it ready for broadcast in July.”
