Endemol Offers MySpace Wedding

LOS ANGELES: One couple is being given the opportunity to have their wedding streamed live on MySpace.com, with details of the ceremony to be planned by the users of the social networking site, as part of a new online reality series from Endemol.

The new show, Get Married on MySpace, will see MySpace users voting on every detail, from the bride’s dress to the rings to the location of the nuptials. The 13 webisode series will conclude with a live wedding ceremony where the details of the selections made by the MySpace community will be revealed. Advertisers will be incorporated into the program. And MySpace’s newly relaunched MySpace Video channel (formerly MySpaceTV) will feature a range of additional content, such as profiles of the bride and groom, behind-the-scenes footage and video blogs. Interested couples are encouraged to submit entry videos in March, with the finalists to be selected by MySpace users. The series will premiere online in May and will conclude in early August.

"The concept of empowering the worldwide MySpace audience to plan the most important and perhaps stressful day of one couple’s lives makes for great reality programming,” said, Jason Kirk, the VP of video and entertainment for MySpace. “Endemol and MySpace will offer fans of Get Married on MySpace the ability to get involved and stay connected to the series, the bride and groom, and each other, in a way that no other reality series has ever done before.
