Endemol International Debuts New Formats at MIPCOM

HILVERSUM,
September 27: Endemol International has announced a slew of new
formats from its divisions around the globe that will make their market debut
at MIPCOM.

Endemol
U.K. will be contributing three new formats to the group’s MIPCOM offerings.
The first is Balls of Gold, which airs on ITV1 in the U.K. under the name Golden
Balls

and is the highest-rated program in its daytime slot. The second is Would I
Lie To You?,
a comedy panel show, which has also done well for BBC One,
where it has, at times, beaten all other channels in its prime-time Saturday
night slot. Rounding out Endemol U.K.’s offerings is The Kids Are All Right, a new entertainment
show designed for prime time in which child prodigies compete with a team of
adults in a series of mental and physical challenges to win a cash prize.

The
U.S. division of Endemol will bring two reality formats to the market. Mean
Girls

is a
reality show in which mean people try to turn nice in an attempt to win the
viewers’ votes and a cash prize. The format has been commissioned in the U.S.
by Viacom’s The N and is due to premiere under the title Queen Bees. Also from Endemol USA
is The
Delivery
,
a new reality format that sends three strangers on a mission to find, secure,
and deliver one obscure item from the other side of the world armed with only
an airline ticket, $500 cash and the clothing on their back.

Endemol
Netherlands will be bringing From Alaska With Love, a reality-dating format that
brings together young Alaskan bachelors and female contestants from overseas in
a matchmaking effort in one of the world’s most remote regions. The format
recently premiered in a prime-time slot on RTL 5 in the Netherlands.

Lastly,
Endemol’s MIPCOM highlights will be topped off with What Women Want, a reality show that
pairs young men with empowered and sophisticated elder women to test how much
they really know about what women want.

“This
lineup adds a great new mix of entertainment, reality and game shows to our
portfolio for this year’s market,” said Annelies Noest, the director of sales
at Endemol International. “Some of these have already proved themselves in key
territories against tough competition and all are now in demand
internationally.”
