Endemol Delivers Revenue and Profit Gains

HILVERSUM, July 26: Driven by unscripted
television—notably Deal or No Deal—and
gains in the U.K., Endemol has posted revenues of 516.6 million euros for the
first half of the year, a 22.6 percent increase, with profit up 20 percent to
48.6 million euros.

According to the company’s newly installed CEO, Elías
Rodríguez-Viña, Endemol is on track to achieve more than 1 billion euros in
revenues for the full year.

Non-scripted television continues to generate the most
business for Endemol, with revenues up 24.1 percent to 405.9 million euros. In
addition to Deal or No Deal—expected
to air in more than 35 markets this year—other highlights include 1
vs 100
and Extreme Makeover: Home
Edition.
Scripted
television was up 3.7 percent to 58.7 million euros, thanks to the acquisition
of NL Film & TV in the Netherlands. Digital media revenues gained 38.2
percent to 52 million euros.

By territory, the U.K. continues to be the company’s
strongest, with revenues up 52.8 percent to 121.8 million euros. Business in
the U.S. was up 34.6 percent to 79.3 million euros, and Italian revenues were
up 38.5 percent to 78.2 million euros. Business in the Netherlands was up just
14.2 percent to 70.3 million euros, and Spain posted just 0.8 percent growth to
56.3 million euros. Business in Germany, however, dropped 13.9 percent to 38.3
million euros.
