NEW YORK: Elisabeth Murdoch is set to step down as chairman of Shine after the merger with Endemol and Core Media takes place.

Murdoch established Shine in 2001 and has overseen its expansion for the last 13 years. Shine Group was sold to News Corp., owned by her father, Rupert Murdoch, in 2011. News Corp. is in the process of merging Shine with Endemol and Core Media (both controlled by Apollo Global Management).

The news of her departure comes after it was announced earlier this week that former BSkyB exec Sophie Turner Laing will become chief executive of the merged Endemol-Shine-Core business.
