Eastern European Deals for Zodiak

COPENHAGEN, July 5: Zodiak Television World has notched up
new format deals in Eastern Europe, including the sale of Stars on Stage to Ukraine’s Inter-TV.

Devised at MTV Mastiff Sweden, the prime-time entertainment series is slated for a 12-episode run on Inter-TV
this fall in a Saturday-night slot. It sees celebrities pairing up with
well-known recording artists to perform duets on live TV. The format originally
premiered on Sweden’s TV4 in March. “This deal is an important step towards
Zodiak’s ongoing growth and business into other CIS-markets,” said Patrick
Svensk, the CEO of Zodiak Television. “We’re still looking into acquiring more
companies in the markets that neighbor Russia within Eastern Europe. This deal
in Ukraine is particularly interesting as an illustration in that the country
is experiencing similar growth rates to Russia in TV advertising and a general
demand for original content.’

In Russia, Muz TV opted for Ex-treme Dating, which sends two single people on a blind date with
their ex-girlfriends and boyfriends tagging along. The first season of 13
episodes will air late fall or early winter.
