DQE Signs Broadcast Deals with Sun TV

HYDERABAD: DQ Entertainment has signed a deal to provide more than 100 half-hours of animated programming to Sun TV of India, covering series such as Casper’s Scare School.

The agreement sees DQE providing Sun TV with 117 half-hours that were co-produced with European, Canadian and U.S. partners. Series include Casper’s Scare School, Benjamin Bear, Leonard and Pet Pals. Sun TV has the rights to air these series in either Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam across its network in India, Sri Lanka and many other countries with Indian diaspora.

This is the largest Indian TV distribution deal to date for DQE.

Tapaas Chakravarti, the chairman and CEO of DQE Group, commented, “We are a well recognized entertainment group world wide with marquee brand ownerships and delighted that we have been able to produce fantastic Indian intellectual properties with global broadcasting leaders like Disney, Turner, Nickelodeon and also been able to place high quality IP’s owned by us on Indian regional broadcasting platforms to reach out to much larger audiences. We believe this broadcasting contract will open up a number of potential revenue generating opportunities for these four international properties in publishing, merchandising and home entertainment.

Kavitha Jaubin, the channel head for Chutti TV, Sun TV Network of India, said, “We are excited to be partnering with one of the leading animation companies from India. The titles are those which will create a good viewing base and will attract newer audiences.
