CANNES: DQ Entertainment is adapting the classic Peter Pan character for a 26-episode TV series that will be done in a 3-D animated CGI format.

The New Adventures of Peter Pan will feature stereoscopic effects. DQ Entertainment Ireland is co-producing the series with Method Animation and Story Board Animation. Method and Story Board have signed a development deal with France Télévisions and a design and pilot team is already working in France, under the editorial consultation of DQE Ireland for scripting.

Julien Borde, the head of children and youth programs at France Télévisions, said, “We are delighted to join Method Animation and DQ Entertainment in the development of Peter Pan. France Télévisions’ first commissioner of animation in Europe is working on adaptation of international IP’s for more than 20 years and has produced some of the most exciting international franchises (Garfield, Gaston Lagafffe, Tintin, Lucky Luke, Marsupilami…). It is a great honor for us to be part of such a challenging and motivating project. With the passion of Method and DQ artists, we are sure the first animated series version of Peter Pan will be consistent with the original universe and bring emotions and fun to a all new generation of kids.”

Said Tapaas Chakravarti, the chairman and CEO of DQ Entertainment, “We are delighted to have Method Animation as our co-producers supported by Storyboard Animation for creative and post production development of series. The creative pedigree of Method Animation, which is currently co-producing Little Prince, Iron Man II as well as Charlie Chaplin, is well know worldwide, and this new series will bring renewed sparkle to our relationship. DQE and its co-producers are truly grateful to the qualitative development support by the marquee broadcaster, France Television."
