Distraction to Debut CBC Reality Game Show Format at MIPCOM

LONDON, September 18:
Distraction is set to launch The Next Great Leader, a reality game show format from CBC, at MIPCOM.

The Next Great Leader is a political debate competition format where
young men and women share their ideas for making their country a better place.
Applicants, aged 18 to 25, are invited to submit a three-to-five minute video-taped
speech with their “leadership message,” and a panel of judges will select the
25 best, who will be narrowed down to four finalists to participate in a
televised one-hour finale special. The winner will receive a $50,000 cash
prize, a coveted Magna-Dominion-Fulbright six-month internship and the title of
The Next Great Leader.

Julie Bristow, CBC’s
executive director of factual entertainment, commented: “The CBC, in
partnership with Magna International, is thrilled to be launching this exciting
new format at MIPCOM. This entertaining political game show was a big hit with
Canadian viewers. The launch of The Next Great Leader also marks the start of an exclusive relationship
with Distraction Formats. We are delighted to announce that Distraction, known
worldwide for their expertise in marketing television formats, will represent
CBC's factual entertainment formats internationally.”
