Distraction Shores Up Three Deals for Serial Frank

CANNES, October 9:
Distraction Formats has inked three deals for the scripted comedy series Serial
Frank
with Endemol in Italy,
Amedia (Ancerol Cinema Limited) in Russia and Astro Entertainment Network in
Malaysia.

Produced by the Locomotion
Group, the series airs on Series + in Canada. It looks at the daily life of
Frank, an ordinary single guy in his 20s whose “inner selves” show up on his
doorstep. The series is also part of Distraction’s MIPCOM slate this year.

Distraction recently
announced a deal for Serial Frank
with NBC in the U.S. An undisclosed A-list actor is rumored to be starring in
the series and pre-production is already underway.

Additionally, the second
season in French Canada was recently awarded the prestigious ‘Best Comedy
Series’ Gemaux Award, the French-Canadian equivalent to the Emmy Awards, having
been nominated in seven categories.

Commenting on the deal,
Michel Rodrigue, the CEO of Distraction, said: “It’s hard to believe that Serial
Frank
was only launched six months
ago at MIPTV. Already it has been sold in six territories. It’s an undeniably
strong scripted format that is seeing the kind of success it deserves. I’m
looking forward to signing yet more deals for the format in Cannes this week.”
