Distraction Scores New Broadcast Deals for Italian Game Show

LONDON, May 25:
Distraction has secured new deals in Romania and France for the game show
format Guess Who (Cultura Moderna),
from Italy’s Mediaset.

Distraction has licensed Guess
Who
to Romanian broadcaster
Antenna 1, for premiere on September 1 in a prime-time weekend slot. A Prime
Group in France also acquired the format, and negotiations are currently under
way with French broadcasters. Negotiations are also at an advanced stage in
Greece, the U.K. and the U.S.

The format debuted in
Italy on Canale 4, and continues to fare well, with market shares reaching more
than 32 percent. The brainchild of Antonio Ricci, Guess Who contains elements of both a talent show and a game
show, where five participants have to guess the identity of a hidden
personality. Depending on the success of their talent performance, they have
the opportunity to ask the show’s host between one and three “yes or no”
questions, which are then answered by the hidden personality before the final
unveiling of the personality.
