Disney Channel Scores with Cross-Over Programming Event

BURBANK: Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana—featuring cross-over episodes of the hit series Wizards of Waverly Place, The Suite Life on Deck and Hannah Montana—led Disney Channel to become TV’s most watched network during the event in households, total viewers, kids 6 to 11 and tweens 9 to 14.

The event led Disney to notch up 5.8 million households, 9.3 million total viewers, 2.8 million in the kids 6-to-11 demo and 3.7 million tweens 9 to 14. Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana was the most watched scripted TV telecast of 2009 in kids 6 to 11 (3.8 million) and tweens 9 to 14 (3.7 million). It was also cable’s number one scripted telecast in total viewers (9.3 million).

Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana more than tripled the year-ago time period in total viewers, up 258 percent, and in kids 6 to 11 was up 245 percent. The time slot more than quadrupled in tweens 9 to 14, up 368 percent.

Combined with the success of the original movie Princess Protection Program, Disney Channel is now home to TV’s top two scripted telecasts in kids 6 to 11 and tweens 9 to 14.
