EL SEGUNDO: With subscriber gains at its U.S. and Latin American operations, DIRECTV has delivered a 10-percent gain in third-quarter revenues to $6.03 billion, delivering a net profit that was up 31 percent to $479 million.

“For the fourth consecutive quarter, DIRECTV achieved double-digit revenue and OPBDA growth while also increasing EPS by 49 percent as more consumers across the Americas continue to purchase DIRECTV and SKY’s unrivaled choice of video services,” said Mike White, the president and CEO of DIRECTV. “Driven by our industry leading HD, DVR and interactive services, gross and net subscriber additions increased in both our U.S. and Latin American businesses for the first time in two and a half years and as a result, we widened our leading position as the world’s largest provider of pay TV services with over 27 million subscribers.”

DIRECTV U.S. increased revenues by 7 percent to $5.03 billion, with ARPU up 4.3 percent to $88.98 thanks to programming package price increases, higher HD and DVR service fees and advertising sales, partially offset by an increase in acquisition and retention promotional discounts. Net additions of 174,000 were 28-percent higher than a year ago. DIRECTV U.S. ended the quarter with 18.93 million subscribers compared with 18.44 million subscribers this time last year.

Revenues for DIRECTV Latin America increased 22 percent to $930 million. Net additions were up 27 percent to 206,000 to reach 5.4 million cumulative subs.
